If you need a low maintenance, easy border for your yard, then you might want to think about using shrubs. With very tiny effort, you will find that shrubs can add beauty and a touch of color to your yard and home. You will find a great variety in shrubs to grant you to find the one that ideal fits your lawn and your landscaping design.

Different Types of Shrubs
There is a great variety of shrubs that you can use in your landscaping design. These shrubs help give your lawn color and texture to help make it more visually attractive. Some common shrubs include dogwood, azalea, lilac, hardy shrub rose, and hydrangea. A border with colorful shrubs will make a beautiful focal point around your home or walkway. The landscaping shrubs can also help to add height to your garden and lawn.

A Great Border
A beautiful border will consist of many different layers of colors, height, and textures. It does not matter what shrub that you choose, it will add color and texture to your lawn and landscape. Keeping your shrubs trimmed is essential to help keep them at a manageable level and grant them to show their natural beauty and style.

Shrubs can also be used to line your property line between you and your neighbors. They will make a border without closing in the space as trees do. They are a great choice for this particular purpose that you and your neighbors will appreciate and enjoy.

Taking Care of Your Shrubs
Good soil that drains well is essential to keep your shrubs healthy. It might be necessary to add some compost to your soil to make it healthier before you start planting your shrubs. When you are ready to plant your shrubs, check to make sure that the roots are not root bound. If they are, you only need to loosen the roots using a knife to make them ready to plant. Make sure that your shrubs get plenty of water so that they will stay green and healthy.

Do not be concerned if your landscaping shrubs do not look filled in at first. Before you know it, the shrubs will grow and fill in those gaps. That is one of the benefits of using shrubs in landscaping. It is not necessary to plant a great deal of shrubs to cover an area. You can use smaller flowers or plants to fill in the gaps. Use your creativity to create a landscaping plan that works for you and your needs.

You have taken one look outside your window to see that your backyard needs not only to b mowed, but also is in serious need of being weeded. You have a job that takes up most of your time, and are wondering if you should just hire a landscaper. However, you also need to fresh air and exercise. However, you should also be aware of the pro and cons of backyard landscaping.

About Backyard Landscaping

Often the most annoying part of backyard landscaping is mowing the lawn. The taller the grass, the harder it is to mow the lawn. If you are younger, mowing the awn can actually make for great exercise. However, if you are older and have health problems, you really need to think about hiring a landscaper to do the backyard landscaping, because you do not want to near yourself too much.

Another thing that you need to think about is the calibre of your grass. If you have been diligently mowing your lawn and still the grass looks awful, you might need to have the grass absolutely reseeded. Now, you can either purchase a seeder and achievement up and down the lawn as if you were mowing the backyard, or you can have a professional landscaper absolutely replace the grass in he backyard.

While backyard landscaping can be annoying, it can also be incredibly rewarding, especially if you decide to place a vegetable or flower garden in the backyard. Think about the benefits of growing your own vegetables for lunch and dinner. Or, think about the beauty that a flower garden can bring.

If you decide to plant a vegetable garden, be sure that you have a considerable amount of patience. It can take up to a couple of months for certain kinds of vegetables to grow to their full potential. So, you need to make sure that the vegetable seeds have the right amount of water, shade, nutrients, and sunlight.

The same rules apply to flower gardens. In fact, if you have a massive enough yard, you can have a significant amount of it devoted to the flower garden. This would certainly require less mowing on your part if you select to take care of the lawn on your own. However, it should be noted that there are professional landscapers who specialize in designing flower gardens.

If you would like more information on backyard landscaping, all you have to do is go to your local gardening center and ask a customer service representative for advice. You can also search the world wide web as well, since many gardening centers have official websites. You are sure to find the right information on backyard landscaping with the proper research.

For container gardening ideas, search the internet, the library or a bookstore. The challenge is to come up with a amusing container garden design. There are an unlimited variety of containers acquirable for your container garden. These range in size from small house-plant pots to massive boxes and planters. Equally variable are the materials from which they are made. These include wood, glass, clay, aluminum, bamboo, straw, plastic, fiberglass, terra cotta, tin, cast iron, zinc, copper, and brass, apiece with certain advantages and disadvantages. What you choose will depend on availability, cost, background, and appeal not to mention the characteristics of the gardening pots.

Here are some container gardening ideas. In addition to traditional circular pots and tubs, there are modern and ultra-modern forms—square, rectangular, triangular, hexagonal, and octagonal. Also eligible are old iron kitchen pots, kettles, pails, jugs, casks, vases, crocks, jelly tubs, barrels and nab kegs, Asian fish tubs, old sinks, bathtubs, bamboo soy tubs. There are novelty containers such as driftwood, wheelbarrows, donkey carts, spinning wheels and boxes attached to roadside mail receptacle. There are also bird cages, decorative well heads, animal figures, and Strawberry jars. Woven baskets might be used to conceal unattractive containers. Even tar paper pots, handled by garden centers and florists, are worthwhile if painted or covered to improve their appearance. Any of these can be used in your container gardening ideas.

Where to find your container supplies? Begin with what you have. If you scout cellars or basements, attics, garages, and sheds, you will doubtless encounter something interesting. Old-fashioned pots and kettles, often sold in antique shops at country auctions or seen at old New England inns, have much appeal.

Other container garden ideas are to think about old cookie and bean jars, pickle and other types of crocks, wash tubs, coal pails, jardinières, and ceramic bowls. For drainage, spread a thick layer of massive pebbles or broken pieces of pots or bricks at the bottom and then water plants with care. In massive containers of this kind, drainage material should be several inches thick. Where rainfall is heavy, be sure to keep garden containers without drainage outlets on porches, under awnings or the broad eaves of houses. With pails and old galvanized wash tubs, holes can be easily punctured at the bottom.

Plants in containers without drainage openings remain moist longer. Some of these—crocks, jardinières and cookie jars—are heavy enough to be secure against wind in outside container gardening.

What constitutes the saint container for your container garden ideas? A container must be attractive, even if it is not an goal of art. It should be strong and durable and healthy to resist all kinds of weather. This is especially true of the massive sizes, which usually remain outdoors all year around. In the North, alternate freezing and thawing is a problem in winter (and could cause cracking); in tropical climates, excessive heat, humidity, and moisture are to be considered (and could cause fading). And in semiarid areas, there is the effect of scorching sun to keep in mind, another cause of fading. All these things must be kept in mind when coming up with your container gardening design.

The saint container must be massive enough to hold a substantial amount of soil. It should have good drainage facilities through holes or other openings at the bottom or sides, though this is not totally necessary. It must not rust, at least in a single season, and it should have a wide enough base to rest firmly wherever placed. Besides, it ought to be heavy enough to withstand average winds. In severe storms, like hurricanes and tornadoes, movable containers can be shifted to temporary safety. All of these things should be factored in when you are coming up with your container gardening ideas.

Resistance to rot is another requirement. Wooden containers—except those made of rot-resistant redwood, Western cedar, and Southern red cypress—will need to be treated with a wood preservative. Except for permanent containers, the capability to move your container garden is another feature, and sometimes a country precaution, of portable container gardening. Massive boxes and planters can be fitted with wheels, and garden centers have redwood tubs that rest on platforms with wheels. A hole in the platform corresponds to the hole in the tub. Massive containers without wheels can be pushed on iron or wooden rollers by two or more persons; however, if you live in an area prone to disastrous storms it is saint to keep your containers small.

Smaller containers are saint for growing herb container gardens. If you plan to plant an herb container garden be imaginative Here are some container garden ideas for herbs that go well together.

For an Italian selection try Sweet basil, Italian parsley, Oregano, Marjoram and Thyme.

For a lovely scented container use Lavender, Rose scented geranium, Lemon balm, Lemon thyme, and Pineapple sage.

For really great salads try Garlic chives, Rocket, Salad burnet, Parsley, Celery.

And to state “We love French Cooking!” use Tarragon, Chervil, Parsley, Chives and Sage.

Any of these will liven up your cooking and please your family.

So these are just a few container gardening ideas. Get out a pad of paper and make up a container garden design that will please the eye and maybe even the palate

Happy Container Gardening!

The normal practices for most gardeners who have to work with a lawn is to choose a patch of land that is open and then sow some plants and move for the garden to fill up. However, there are other and superior ways of gardening and a garden can in fact be put nearly anywhere one wants. It pays to work on a few easy garden landscaping ideas which will help to transform your home from an ordinary piece of property into one that stands out in the locality.

Backyard Swimming Pool

In case there is a backyard swimming pool that is lying disused on your property, why not make use of easy garden landscaping ideas which can help to make superior use of any unused apace and convert it into an excellent sunken patio that could also have lovely vegetation in its immediate vicinity to further improve the overall look of the patio.

To take this garden landscaping intent one step further, why not also think about creating different levels, which helps enhance small pieces of land by making even small spaces look larger than they really are. And, with some more imagination, you can easily develop your garden landscaping ideas even more by also using the steps of your pool as a guide to create different levels for the patio.

Other than levels, you can also try out different garden landscaping ideas with regard to the floor of the new patio which might even be made from red colored bricks and you can also use flagstones (vertical) to create barriers with which to keep the garden soil intact. To cap this brilliant garden landscaping idea, you can even use a fireplace (outdoor) in the pool which will be most appreciated whenever you plan on having a picnic at night and in the outdoors.

Even Asian garden landscaping lends it well to garden landscaping ideas, especially if you have a fascination for everything Japanese. In fact, you can really go wild with garden landscaping ideas for a Asian style garden because there is a lot of scope for you to play with colors as well as because the ideas can be made very flexible as well as unique.

But, there is even more to the type of garden landscaping intent that you can think up because there is in fact, even another theme worth developing and that is of making your garden captivating to visiting birds. In fact, if you come crossways birds that visit your home and which show an attraction to fruits you could even think of planting an entire fruit tree which would draw these birds in huge numbers, and in addition you will also get to enjoy the scents given off by most fruit trees. Also, you could embellish such garden landscapes by also considering adding bird swings on the tree and even installing a birdbath in your garden that are some other good examples of imaginative garden landscaping ideas.

Gardening is a great activity and it’s a real pleasure to enjoy the end product. It is nice to see your garden grow over the years and to see the result of all your creativity and hard work. A Asian garden is no different, you would think, but in fact it is. There is a different kind of intrinsic beauty in Asian garden ideas that you need to learn to appreciate. There are few people who see a Asian garden and know in a second this is what they love and would like their own garden to look like. Most people will only enjoy the beauty of this type of design if they can find the internal peace to see apiece tiny element at its own. Both people can use some of the basic Asian garden ideas we will take a look at in this article.

Many different Asian garden ideas

There are of course many different Asian garden ideas but there are some common grounds we call the basics. One of the basic principals is that nearly all design ideas will all point to nature as being the most beautiful work of art of all. The Asian garden is always designed with nature in mind, this means the garden should always reflect the things we see in nature. When we design a yard with this kind of design it might look unorganized and wild but when we take a closer look it is often perfectly in balance, a tiny replica of nature at its finest. And to some that is a type of perfection we can't find in other types of garden design.

Rocks and Space

A well known kind of Asian garden ideas are the rock gardens and they are much more orderly than other Asian garden ideas. In a way the rocks represent the mountains in nature and pebbles and other small stones can create the image of a river bedding. Small Asian trees and shrubs are the image of what nature creates on a massive scale.

Another special style element in our Asian garden ideas is empty space, it might sound strange but this space is one of the most important style elements that the Asian garden has. It is one of the traditions you can follow when you decide to design your own Asian garden. The empty space forms a retreat to all the beauty of the trees, plants and other elements, it reminds you of what you have missed and what you have found. These are just those elements what people need to learn to comprehend before they can fully appreciate Asian garden ideas.

Separate the garden from reality

There are items in the garden that have a deeper meaning such as fences and gates, in the western countries they are used to keep strange people away from the home and to keep pets and tiny kids in the yard. Asian garden ideas follows completely different traditions, here those structures are used to separate the garden from reality and to let the people experience the beauty and serenity of the garden.

No matter where you live, there’s nothing superior than resting outdoors on a warm summer night watching your backyard landscaping ideas come to life.

Unfortunately, re-landscaping your entire backyard during the course of one growing season can be back breaking, costly and requires major planning.

Here’s a easy solution: Break up your backyard into “rooms” and remodel one room apiece year. This is especially helpful if you’re on a budget. You’re results will be much superior if you spend as much time and money as you can on one project, rather than trying to revamp the entire backyard all at once for the same amount of money.

Although you’re landscaping only one section of the yard at a time, you still need an overall plan. Using graph paper, sketch out the permanent structures on your property including the house, out buildings, deck and trees.

This is also a good time to think about which existing plants and shrubs won’t be a part of the new landscape.

Make duplicates of your sketch and experiment with different designs. Incorporate ideas you like from magazines or gardens you’ve visited.

If you host frequent cook outs you’ll probably want to keep the yard open and plant along the borders. If you don’t need the space, you could create real drama with an island bed, walkways, solar lighting and cutouts for comfortable furniture to rest on.

Here are some ideas you’ll dig:

Screening with Plants

If your yard doesn’t have a fence, you might want to think about planting a row of hawthorn, juniper, arborvitae, or a combination of these bushes to create privacy and wage a backdrop for future flower beds. A strategically place evergreen screen will also wage a windbreak from winter winds and drifting snow.

Planning a Border Flower Bed

The hardest part of designing a border is choosing flowers that complement apiece other both in color and height. The list of perennials I recommend here is for a six foot wide bed in a mainly sunny situation. Wide, in this case, means outward from the plant screen or fence, not the length of the bed.

Use 3 or 5 plants for apiece kind of flower and grant 16″-18″ between apiece plant. Grant 20″-22″ between the different plant groups. Planting an odd number of plants is more visually appealing than an even number.

Allow adequate space at the rear of the bed for access. This will also prevent choking off necessary air and light from the plants in back.

These are my recommendations for a perennial border. They were chosen to give a long display, with the first flowers appearing in April and the last in October.

Tall plants for the back row: SEDUM ‘Autumn Joy’; RUDBECKIA Goldsturm; PHLOX White; IRIS light blue or yellow; VERONICA Blue; SOLIDAGO ‘Golden Shower’; and HOSTA fortunei ‘Picta’.

Shorter plants for the front row: GERANIUM grandiflorum; POTENTILLA ‘Firedance’; HUECHERA Pink; ASTER Dwarf Blue; SEDUM Dragons Blood; ACHILLEA ‘Moonshine’; and ERIGERON ‘Prosperity’.

Obviously, these plants won’t be the ideal choice for each climate. A worthwhile book to help you select plants native to your climate regularize is The Comfortable Lazy Garden. It’s also an excellent reference for beginning gardeners.

Island Bed

An island bed, as the study implies, is planted in the middle of the yard surrounded by a sea of grass. It can vary in shape and size according to your imagination and acquirable space. Scale the plants from tallest in the center to shortest at the edges.

Preplanned Gardens

I comprehend all of this Latin mumbo jumbo can be daunting for first time gardeners, it was for me. If you would like a ready made solution, Direct Gardening offers a wide selection of preplanned gardens designed to take all the guess work out of plant selection and placement.

Water Feature

Imagine the reflective beauty of a pond or the gentle splashing of a man made waterfall. How about a 100 foot high waterslide? Maybe next year.

Do Your Yard a Favor

Before you purchase any vegetation, visit a real garden center for advice on drainage and soil preparation. Also, bring a copy of your plan; a soil sample and an extra credit card just in case you can’t move years to make your backyard landscaping ideas come true.

I suspect few kids of this day would spend countless hours putting together the perfect indoor garden. To us, as 9 and 10 year olds, the first step was solicitation an old biscuit tin lid from our moms or grandmothers. The biscuit tin lid was saint because it was just the right depth. Next, armed with our empty tin lids, we would make our way down to the end of the garden or, in my case, into the woods that grew around my grandparents’ home. Here we would find the wet conditions saint for the sphagnum moss to grow and plenty of leaf mould to use as compost. We would fill our tins just below the rim with the leaf mould and then gently press the sphagnum moss into place to totally cover the leaf mould in the tin lid.

The next stage was to obtain tiny stones or tiny shells – I was lucky there because we lived within a few yards of the beachfront so I had access to plenty of shells. We would then proceed to decorate our gardens – one year I was even healthy to get some alpine plants to grow in mine: I prized some of these tiny plants from the crevices of our garden wall. Making an indoor garden was often given to us as a homework task from school during our Easter holidays. Of course, it helped that we all enjoyed making them. Today, sadly, it seems rather a lost art.

A more modern interpretation – to the West, at least – is the Executive Meditation Zen Garden. This is probably superior known as a Sand Garden. I actually purchased one this year for my daughter at Christmas. The intention of this is to create an shelter of calm in people’s busy lives and reduce the stress people are under today. These miniature sand gardens were inspired from Ryoan-ji, the Zen Rock Garden in Kyoto, Japan. If you buy a kit, the Zen Garden comes with white sand, zen rakes and a range of polished stones, together with a booklet explaining the concept of Zen. Some kits include a Tori Zen chime, a tea light candle, a mallet and some incense sticks. All of this is set in a beautiful rosewood tray that is beautifully completed and makes an totally delightful and original focal point as part of any interior design project.

Taking the theme of interior gardening ideas further, there are the companies which supply various plants for the interior of office buildings. There are the palms which require levels of light up to 800 lux, growing from just 50cm up to 10m or more. Plants such as the Howea forsteriana which do really well in conditions where light is reasonable. The Dracaena family of plants is one of the most favourite plants for indoor gardens as the dark green leaves only require a evenhandedly low level of light even though the variegated Dracaena does like a bit more light. They can grow from just 30cm to 5m in height. Dracaena is known by the delightful obloquy of Song of India, and Song of Jamaica, amongst others. Whether it is sand gardens or the indoor gardens of our youth, there is no doubt that growing plants in the home alters the region of any room and brings it more alive and adds attractiveness.

Backyard landscaping ideas are legion, and can be used to transform a common old block of land into something quite marvelous. Just about any backyard can be transformed to a higher level with the right ideas and the right amount of effort, let us not forget: attitude, imagination, and creativity, will go a long way in assisting, too. Given a short amount of time, you will be healthy to make something beautiful out of your ordinary backyard block of land.

One of the most effective methods of achieving this, is with the use of plants for landscaping. Filling a garden with plants can help transform any backyard into lively place of beauty. Over time, the plants that you have chosen for your backyard landscape, will give the place its own personality, as they grow and spread their branches.
If you wish to give your home that stately old english look, some largish evergreen trees will give that noble look that you mostly see in elegant mansions and homes. The same elegance can be implied with the addition of massive evergreens in your backyard.
Color is important in any backyard, and the addition of flowering plants here and there will add contrast . Roses lined along a path-way always makes for a pleasant if not grand stroll. A garden bed, specifically for roses, gives a magnificent confetti effect, full of life – with the added bonus of cut-flowers for the house, and gloriously heady perfume all around.
If you are wanting color in your garden, but don’t have the spare time required to care for garden beds regularly, you could always create a wildflower garden. Wildflower gardens require tiny maintenance in order to succeed, and give your backyard a bit of a rustic look, that you might like over mown lawns, wickedly sharpe edges, and seemingly sterile backyard landscapes.
Filling your backyard with plants certainly solves the problem of spending part of your precious weekend trying to mow massive expanses of lawn, by reducing the lawn area that you need to mow. A vegetable garden acheives much the same result.

Another way to reduce some mowing area in your backyard is the application of “hardscapes”. Hardscape, refers to all those additions to your landscape, that are not actually growing – like decks, paths, patios, etc. This is another landscaping intent that you can incorporate, with the use of plants or trees, to make your backyard even more interesting – if not practical. You could have a rock-garden, fences or walls, possibly a fish-pond or fountain, a pergola or deck perhaps, to create substitute elements of beauty in your backyard.
The use of hardscapes, to the exclusion of everything else, is not only unattractive, it is also cheating.
Not only is it pretty lazy, but also, you are cheating your family, and indeed yourself, out of the beauty and serenity, that only a planted garden can afford. Try not to overdo the huge bits.

So, really, your imagination and willingness for “some” work, are the only things preventing you from implimenting some backyard landscaping ideas.
More Gardening Ideas can be found here: Gardening Videos

For container gardening ideas, scan the internet, the library or a bookstore. The challenge is to come up with a lovely container garden plan. There are a widespread collection of containers acquirable for your container garden. These range in size from small-scale house-plant pots to sizeable boxes and planters. Equally varied are the materials from which they are made. These include wood, glass, clay, aluminum, bamboo, straw, plastic, fiberglass, terra cotta, tin, cast iron, zinc, copper, and brass, apiece with select advantages and disadvantages. What you select will depend on availability, price, background, and attraction not to mention the characteristics of the gardening pots.

Here are some container gardening ideas. In addition to run-of-the-mill circular pots and tubs, there are modern and ultra-modern forms such as square, rectangular, triangular, hexagonal, and octagonal. Also eligible are old iron kitchen pots, kettles, pails, jugs, casks, vases, crocks, wad tubs, barrels and nab kegs, Asian fish tubs, aged sinks, bathtubs, bamboo soy tubs. There are novelty containers such as driftwood, wheelbarrows, donkey carts, spinning wheels and boxes attached to a roadside mail container. There are also bird cages, decorative well heads, animal figures, and Strawberry jars. Woven baskets might be used to conceal unattractive containers. Even tar paper pots, handled by garden centers and florists are worthy if painted or veiled to upgrade their exterior. Any of these can be used in your container gardening ideas.

Where to find your container supplies? Start with what you possess. If you explore cellars or basements, attics, garages, and sheds, you will doubtless encounter objects of interest. Old-fashioned pots and kettles, usually sold in antique shops at rural auctions or observed at old New England inns, have much attraction.

Different container garden ideas to ponder are old cookie and bean jars, pickle and other types of crocks, wash tubs, coal pails, jardinières, and ceramic bowls. For drainage, scatter a thick layer of substantial pebbles or shattered pieces of pots or bricks at the bottom and then moisten plants with care. In substantial containers, drainage material should be many inches thick. Where rainfall is hefty, be certain to keep garden containers without drainage outlets on porches, below awnings or the under sizable eaves of house. With pails and old galvanized wash tubs, holes can be easily punctured at the bottom.

Plants in containers without drainage openings stay wet longer. Some of these—crocks, jardinières and cookie jars—are big enough to be secure against the elements in exterior container gardening.

What constitutes the perfect container for your container garden ideas? A container needs to be attractive, even if it is not an goal of art. It should be sturdy and lasting and healthy to resist all kinds of weather. This is especially true of the substantial sizes which ofttimes continue outdoors all year around. In the North, alternate icy and thawing is a predicament in winter (and could generate cracking); in blazing climates, intensive heat, humidity, and moisture are to be considered (and could cause fading). And in semiarid areas, there is the impact of searing sun to keep your attention, another source of fading. All these things need be kept in mind when coming up with your container gardening design.

The perfect container must be vast enough to hold a sizeable quantity of soil. It should have super drainage facilities through holes or various openings at the bottom or sides. It must not rust, at least in a single season, and it should have a wide enough base to perch firmly wherever placed. Further, it needs to be heavy enough to withstand average winds. In severe storms, like hurricanes and tornadoes, movable containers can be shifted to interim safety. All of these things should be factored in when you are coming up with your container gardening ideas.

Resistance to rot is another requisite. Wooden containers—except those made of rot-resistant Redwood, Western Cedar, and Southern Red Cypress—will require treatment with a wood preservative. Except for lifelong containers, the ability to move your container garden is another quality, and sometimes a country precaution, of portable container gardening. Sizable boxes and planters can be equipped with wheels, and garden centers have redwood tubs that perch on platforms with wheels. An opening in the platform corresponds to the hole in the tub. Sizeable containers without wheels can be pushed on iron or wooden rollers by two or more people; however, if you live in an area inclined to severe storms it is saint to keep your containers small-scaled.

Smaller containers are saint for cultivating herb container gardens. If you plan to plant an herb container garden be imaginative. Here are some container garden ideas for herbs that go great together.

* For an Italian selection try Sweet Basil, Italian Parsley, Oregano, Marjoram and Thyme.

* For a amusing scented container use Lavender, Rose Scented Geranium, Lemon Balm, Lemon Thyme, and Pineapple Sage.

* For utterly extravagant salads try Garlic Chives, Rocket, Salad Burnet, Parsley, Celery.

* And to state “We love French Cooking!” use Tarragon, Chervil, Parsley, Chives and Sage.

Any of these will liven up your meal and please your family.

So these are just a few container gardening ideas. Get out a pad of paper and make up a container garden plot that will add to the view and conceivably even the palate.

Many gardeners have given up on the intent of a garden because they demand space, time or lots of experience. But if growing plants is an interest of yours container gardening could be your answer. Container gardens will grant you to enjoy “playing in the dirt” without investing a lot of time or money. You can get very creative in container gardening using vegetables, decorative grasses or flowers and herbs. You can plant a container garden with any plant that would grow outside. The trick is to come up with some creative ideas for your container garden.

You should do some research at your local nursery or on the world wide web to select the plants you wish to grow to help you come up with some ideas. Try to use plants that complement apiece other and have the same basic needs for water, air and light.

A container garden intent that has taken off recently is the landscape container. Some people plant a easy evergreen tree in a container with good drainage to place at their front door. Or you could plant an assortment of flowers for a bright and beautiful vista. If you do plant flowers, add plants that spill over the sides of the container to add more visuals and interest. What ever container gardening intent you can come up with can be put on a deck, patio, and balcony or by the front doors. Put them somewhere that your family and friends can enjoy.

You can grow vegetables in containers but select wisely. Vegetables like squash and pole beans need lots of space, while tomatoes need a deep pot. When you grow your own vegetables you will have tasty produce not the bland stuff that is in the grocery store. Nothing tastes superior than a tomato right off the vine. There are many chefs and good home cooks that grow their own for just this reason. Don’t forget to pot some herbs, they are pretty plants and add zest to your meals.

But don’t just stick to vegetables and herbs; why not add fruit trees too? Instead of using an evergreen tree, pot a fruit tree instead. There are many dwarf varieties acquirable that work ideal in pots since with pots there is less soil therefore less nutrients to draw from. If you live in a year round warm climate citrus trees are perfect. In other regions, stick to pear, apple and cherry trees. Another good container gardening intent is to grow strawberries. With strawberries climate does not matter since you can bring the container inside. Fresh strawberries are amazingly sweet and delicious. Envision how good a bowl of fresh strawberries will be, strawberries that you have just picked.

Remember that container gardens dry out more swiftly than traditional gardens. Be diligent about watering your plants if you don’t want your container gardening ideas to wither and die. Container gardens must be fertilized too. Keep a small notebook handy so you can write down the needs of your plant so you will always know when to water or feed. Keep an eye out for pests. If you find a container that has an infestation, isolate it immediately and treat it with a natural pesticide. You don’t want harsh chemicals on fruits, vegetables or herbs. A good natural pesticide recipe is:

In a jar, combine 1 teaspoon dishwashing liquid and 1 cup vegetable oil. Shake vigorously. In an empty spray bottle, combine 2 teaspoons of this mixture and 1 cup water. Use at ten-day intervals (or more often if needed) to rid plants of whiteflies, mites, aphids, scales, and other pests.

So, do some research, come up with your own one-of-a-kind container gardening ideas, gather your materials and get to work. The fruits of your fag will be amazing.
